Internet Sharing Disables After Reboot

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this problem. I shared my internet service from my Ethernet through my Airport. Every time I reboot my computer, although Internet Sharing is checked in the Sharing Preference Pane, it's not active. I need to stop the sharing and start it up again. And even then, it doesn't always take. I had no issues with my iMac (Mid 2010 i5) and sharing in Snow Leapord. I've repaired permissions, even done a clean OS install, and the issue persists.

In another thread in communities it was suggested to delete these two files:

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconfig.plist

No change.

Thoughts anyone?

Hi Nick,

In 10.5.8 I find that these are the files that affect Internet Sharing...

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.nat.plist

/Library/Preferences/com.apple.nat.plist

/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.InternetSharing.plist

/private/etc/bootpd.plist

I attempted to delete one at a time, reset sharing preferences and reboot - with no change.

Then I deleted them all, rebooted, reset preferences, and still no go.

You may have to do them in Safe Mode with nothing else running, not sure...

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup),.

BTW, with a / for a chr in you alias you'll never be able to set any preferences or change anything! 😟

Tried it - didn't work.

And yes, I learned the hard way about "/". Not sure how to change that. But apprecaite the heads-up. 🙂

You cannot change it, either I can see if we can get a Mod to try, or you can start with a new Alias/handle... you decide.

I can ask, once you reach a certain level you can report posts & further up you/we have a couple of more option on who to ask for help... so 1st I try reporting here & see if it can be done.

I guess the next step is to make a new admin account in System Preferences>Accounts, log out & in to the new one & try Internet sharing to see if it'ss system wide or user specific.

Or...

Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...

I created a New Location and created a new admin account - problem persists.

One other item I shoudl have mentioned. There are times when the system tells me that sharing is on, and it is not. Here is my console when bringing up sharing and it tells me that it's on, but it's not...

Hi.

Did anyone find a way around this? I too have to re-enable Internet Sharing every time I reboot, even though the box is checked and theoretically active.

I'm using Mountain Lion on a late 2009 27" iMac.
