this program cannot be run in DOS mode

ok so im a freshmen in college. i just bought my mac book pro 13 inch. i need microsoft office in order to type my reports. i downloaded the program but when i clicked to open it i got the message saying "this program cannot be run in DOS mode followed by a bunch of numbers and sighns?? i need to fix this problem ASAP. does the same thing with frostwire.com
