My MacBook Pro has become very slow and developed issues after installing Lion OS. Can I restore Snow Leopard from Time Machine? Is it risky?

My MacBook Pro came installed with OS X Leopard. Its performance was very good in terms of I upgraded it to Snow Leopard. Its performance improved. Now, I have upgraded to Lion. It has developed many issues. It has become very slow. MSWord and MSExcel have developed so many issues that it has become hasslesome to use them. Safari and Mail have also become slow and erratic.

I have been regualry backing up the System on my Time Machine.

I want to switch back to Snow Leopard. Is it alright? Would there be any loss of data enetered in the last one month?

How to restore the OS I had one month ago while retaining the data as it stands now?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.1)

As a extra precaution I would copy the user file folders of Music, Documents, Pictures etc to another external drive and disconnect, just in case. 🙂

Always maintain TWO backups of your data at all times, since your messing with one, you need another until your back at two again.
