compatibility with nvidia geforce 8600

I have a Macbook Pro (late 2008) with 4 gig of ram, 2.6 ghz Intel duo core processor with 17 inch display (1920 x 1200). The video card is a NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 512 mb graphics card and I'm running Lion 10.7.

Is Final Cut Prox X compatible? The specs seem to indicate only the NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT card with 128mb ram is NOT compatible which leads you to assume the 512 mb would be?

Thanks... Gary

FCPX full-screen video playback is wonky with our MBP (Early 2008) 2.6Ghz here, with the Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT 512MB VRAM.

The upper portion of the LED display cleanly splits or "lags" a few frames behind the lower half of the screen. This causes an odd effect, which takes our attention away from the creative edit.

Since a similar effect happens with Photoshop files, I have to surmise that the problem stems from the 8600M GT 512MB.

Video playback is smooth in QuickTime Player, however.
