I have recently installed Boxee for iPad which has a 'Local Media' feature where you can access your videos etc. on your computer on the local network.
But I couldn't get this function to work because it relies on Bonjour; which is (now apparently) broken on my iPad.
I'm saying 'on the iPad' because everything else on my network seems to recognize the Bonjour services running on my computer(s). I tried a network monitor app on my Android phone and it successfully sees the Bonjour services on both machines (one Win7 64bit and one MacBook). This also confirms that it is not a router/firewall/permissions issue. Yet, my iPad seems to be blind to Bonjour. I have tried several network monitor apps (namely Discovery, Scoutr, ZeroConf Browser) and *NONE* can find any services on the local network.
Also, the Remote app does not work on the iPad. It also relies on Bonjour (so I have read). I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Remote app but it doesn't help.
I am desperately trying to find a setting or something about Bonjour on the iPad but I think there isn't any.
How can I get Bonjour back to health on my iPad again?? Any ideas?
If there is indeed an iPad problem the usual repair steps would be the thing to try (in order):
Restart: Press the On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, to restart press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
