Can't log in to my home wireless network

I had to replace my router today. In the process, I tried many times to log in to my wireless network with my iPhone 4, using the wrong password. Now that I have it all straightened out, it won't let me log in. Keeps saying unable to join the network. Did I go over the limit, Is there a time frame I have to wait for this to clear, or do I need to create a new network?

Added info:

I have previously connected with no problem. I switched routers, and creating a new network, deleting the old one, Now I cannot connect. I saw on another post from 2008 that it said to make sure the both 802.11b/g was selected, I remember specfically changing it today to just g, since I didn't think b was used anymore. Is it possible that the iPhone uses 802.11b? I can't find that setting anywhere now to change it back to see if that fixes it.

thanks,

Elko

I would think this is a function of the router. You could always select Forget this Network on the iPhone and then try to join again. You could log into the router and make sure the MAC address of the iPhone is not listed as a restricted device and also make sure of what the correct password is for joining the network or enter a new one, write it down and then try and join from the iPhone again. It wouldn't be an iPhone issue as far as restrictions on joining the network.

I have MAC address filtering turned off, and I do have the correct password. I just did the Forget this network and then tried to log in again. This time I got the window to put in the password and after a few seconds, same message came up: Unable to join the network "xxxx" and then it says Dismiss. I'm using WPA2, is that acceptable for iPhone? I actually did have a connection earlier today but reset everything on the router back to factory default and started over. Any other ideas? does the 802.11g/b have anything to do with it?

thanks!

It shouldn't, because the iPhone 4 can connect to most networks. You say you don't remember how to get to that setting. You need to log into the router and then go into the wireless setup section to make those changes. All routers are different, so I can't really tell you where to find this on your particular router setup screen. Once you reset the router to factory default, did you reboot the router? Try rebooting again and reboot the iPhone and try and connect again. WPA2 should not be a problem, I've got mine setup that way.

I had the same trouble when I got my iPhone 4. My ipod Touch 3g was working perfectly still.

What I had to change was the settings in the router.

All devices (3 wireless computers plus iPod Touch and iPhone 4) worked when I set the Router to WPA-PSK-AES, and then configured each device accordingly.

Hopefully that will do it for you.

Thank you for the suggestion. My phone had been connected to my wireless network since I got it in January. I replaced my router today and at one point this afternoon, was connected to the new router using WPA-PSK. Both my PC and my MBP are connected to the wireless network right now using the same password that I keep entering in my phone. I tried WPA2 and that didn't make a difference. I have reset the phone network settings, removed the sim card and put it back, rebooted phone, router and computer. I guess I will start from scratch and create a new network again and see if that fixes it.

Can anyone confirm that trying to log in too many times is not a factor? I know if you try to log into your password protected phone 3 times, and get the wrong password, it locks you out for awhile. Gmail locks you out for 2 weeks.

So I just created a new wireless network using my Airport Express, which is connected to my Trendnet router and and my iPhone and MBP connected it to it immediately. So maybe the wireless function of the router is incompatible with the phone? Anyway, mission accomplished, I can use my home network instead of ATT 3G.

thanks for the suggestions!
