Language in lock screen

My sister changed input language to LT and left her mac until it locked. Her password includes asterisk that is nowhere in LT keyboard. She has Lion. Any ideas how to change the language or write that asterisk? Keyboard shortcut for changing language and restarting do not help.

Actually, does not really matter which language is.

It certainly does if you want to know how to make an asterisk. On the Lithuanian layout, that is done via ` plus Shift plus 8. It may not work in a password field, but worth a try.

Sorry I don't know the other answer. When you do get access again, go to system prefs/users and groups/login options and check the box for Show Input Menu at Login.

If you have an external USB keyboard that you can use the * is on the numeric keypad.

Or you can try to change your password. Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive. When it does start up,you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Just press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Reset Password.
