Shared Address Book

Is it really impossible for a small company with a mac mini server to have different "Address Books" shared by groups of people?

I have been searching for information about this and looks like it will not work. There is plenty of information about "Snow Leopard" on the web, for example:

http://osxupgrade.com/create-a-global-address-book-with-mac-os-x-snow-leopard-se rver/456/

But Lion Server is different, for example the "Local group" named "AB Read-Write Groups" does not exist, neither other "com.server ..." necessary groups.

I don't know if I'm using "Workgroup manager" as the best application, changes are also visible at "Server Admin > Access > Address Book". And this tools allows you to add groups but it is not documented if it is usefull for shared "Address Books" or not.

I'm trying something impossible? We configured an administrator account that shares the company calendars with specific groups of users, but isn't it possible to do something similar with "Address Books" ?

Thanks in advance,

Albert

There are two possibilities. Choose the best approach for your situation.

I made a screencast on how to do this with Open Directory contacts here:

Alternatively, you could create a user on the server and give it access to only the Address Book service. Then use Profile Manager to distribute this account to the users you want to access the shared login.
