remove modem icon from apple menu

My MacPro only has an external cable modem but the modem icon shows in the Apple Menu Bar. It says no modem configurations were found and open Network Preferences. In preferences there is no modem showing or selectable. (2 ethernet conncections, firewire, wi-fi, and bluetooth)

How can that icon be deleted?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.1), 2.8 GHz Quad core, 6 GB ram
