Home Sharing Error 5506 with new AppleID, Authorize did not work!

I just found this thread. after getting my first mac today, and my first apple id, i tried to enable homesharing, but i get the same error. i have also tried to authorize but to no help.

I have added a credit card, and i have the gift card from itunes.

What to do? I really want to listen to my music on my wifi radio.

I have the same problem on a new Mac Book Air and Apple TV. Can authorize and deauthorize computer. Can Log into the Store on both machines. But cannot turn on Home Share????

I have my computers authorized and still receive 5506 error too. Any suggestions?

I have a very similar problem in that I changed my appleID loginid and now none of my home shares work. All itunes have been re-authorized/authenticated with the new appleID string. Yet I still receive this error. I too am looking for suggestions.

I also just purchased apple TV and am trying to set up a Home Share for the first time. I just created an apple ID and have authorized/deauthorized this computer, restarted, etc. and am receiving the 5506 error.

I have the same problem on all of my devices at home. They all worked yesterday and I got a new iphone and wanted set up home sharing. Normally this works flawslessly for me but for some reason now I get this error 5506. I turned off home sharing on my computer, other iphone, and my apple tv to see if I needed to start from scratch. Now none of my devices will set up home sharing. I even reinstalled my itunes twice, reset my hosts files, ran computer clean up and tried deactivating and reactivating my computer but nothing works. the most frustrating thing is that apple support is not responding to any of us on this page. At the very least they could tell us that they are aware of our problem and that they are trying to resolve it. That way I would know that there truly is a problem and that I'm not just making a mistake. I have spent hours trying to fix something that is most likely not fixable on my end.

So I've got two things to add:

1. When I try to set up Home Share on my laptop (itunes) it gives me the 5506 error. When I try to set up Home Share from my Apple TV, it says my password is incorrect or my apple ID was not found. I've checked/re-entered it 3 times, so I'm pretty sure this is some problem on Apple's end.

2. I am able to play my music to my apple TV from itunes on my laptop. In the lower right there is a little rectangle that says "My Computer." It is actually a dropdown menu to choose an output - I can choose My Computer, Apple TV, or both, and it will play out of my TV.

I realize that neither of these are solutions but at least I can have music going in my living room which was the point. Hopefully this gets fixed soon!

Didn't change a thing, just tried to activate Home Sharing and it worked. Maybe something about how long my account has existed or something, but Home Sharing just activated for me no problem. Hope you guys have similar luck!

For reference, my account is as of this moment 43ish hours old.

Mine just started working again too. I think that Apple fixed the problem. Thank you Apple.
