Safari won't download links...

I do not have speedloader.

For some time I've had to control click to download links. But lately there have been a lot of links that this won't work on.

I deleted the apple.safari.plist

I deleted the downloads.plist

Pop ups are not blocked.

I noticed the difficulty especially while trying to use safari to download the google + hangout plugin. It doesn't work.

Any other suggestions?
