How to Watch Streaming Video from MBP on TV?

I have a new MBP 15". I am watching a game on ESP360 (streaming live video). I want to watch it on my 56" TV. I plugged the Mini-HDMI converter (not sure exactly what it is called) into the slot on left side of MBP. I then unplugged the HDMI cable from the back of my Roku device that was already connected to the TV. I plugged that end of the HDMI cable into the converter on the side of the MBP. I can see the MBP's desktop image (but without any of the icons or file folders) on the TV. How do I get the window with the streaming video to show up on the TV?
