startup screen wrong resolution

When I restart my 2011 MacBook Pro, the startup screen (blue screen with apple logo - not the linen material screen which appears next) shows at the wrong resolution - 800 X 600, not 1440 X 900. When I get to the linen logo screen, the resolution is fine and there are no other problems. I have recently started using my MacBook Pro with a projector that changes the resolution to 800 X 600. So it seems like the startup screen is stuck like that.

I have run Diskwarrior, repaired permissions and restarted and it still appears this way.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hey Thom,

I had the same problem and I've found the solution.

Just reset PRAM and NVRAM om your MacBook Pro, and you're good to go.

How do you do this?

Well, that's simple. just hold: Command + Alt + P + R before the Apple logo appears. Make sure you shut down your computer and hold the keys untill you hear the startup sound for the second time.

Good luck!
