Purple Monkey Dishwasher

I received an Email from a <No reply> server saying that my computer will be cleaned out slowly by something called "purple Monkey Dishwasher". I also have these same symptoms happening on my Macbook pro. Tow of my friends are also having the exact same issue but they didnt receive an email. So doesnt look like everybody that has this Purple monkey dishwashed thing receives an email.

The day before i received this email, i started noticing things happening on my computer, that include the following:

> When shutting down the computer the option "Reopen windows when logging back in" keeps being selected when i restart my computer even if i untick the option

> The computer will go to Sleep/Screens saver even when i am using it

> Imac screen not always waking from sleep

> On my MBP, inside finder have graphic glitches so that the page is unreadable

> Inside Safari, Pages will flash when loading

> Spinning beach ball showing alot more now

If anything else happens, i will post more up.

But is anybody else having this Purple monkey dishwasher thing happening to them?

I also received an email telling me that my computer was infected with Purple Monkey Dishwasher. I just assumed it was just a scam, but some of your symptoms match mine. I have been seeing some strange glitches in finder for a while. Some lines of text and folders will just get scrambled together and I get the spinning beach ball every time I try and move a file around.

I am not sure about how this affects an iMac as I only have my Macbook Pro, however I am now wishing I had not deleted that email as if it was sent by whoever created this threat I would like to give them a piece of my mind.

I guess once again we have to wait for the OS that "doesn't get viruses" to have its malware protection updated.
