subscribing to google calendar for ical

I got the URL for my wife's goggle calendar that I wanted to integrate into iCal. She's shared the calendar with my google email address. When I attempt to subscribe to a calendar and enter the URL, I get the following message:

"A calendar wasn't found on <URL>. Check the URL."

I'm copying the url with the clipboard so there's nothing wrong with it or at least it's accurately what google provided.

Any ideas what the problem might be? Mind you, I've already subscribed to my and her tripit.com calendars successfully.

TIA,

David

I realize this thread is super old but I was having the same issue and just figured it out so thought that I would share.

For me the solution was that I was trying to subscribe to a "public link" for a calendar that I hadn't actually made public. Your calendar doesn't need to be public in order to subscribe to it though.

There are two kinds of links on google calendar. The first is a public link for public calendars and below that (under your calendar settinsg) is a private link for private calendars. Your issue was probably that you chose the wrong link to subscribe to.

To find the private link:

1) Login to Google Calendar

2) Under "My Calendars" choose "Settings" from the dropdown

3) Click on the name of the calendar you are trying to subscribe to

4) Scroll down to where it says "Private Address" and click the ical button to get the link

5) Copy the link and subscribe to it in your iCal

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Ash
