I have been attempting to get Lion to sync my google contacts with OS X's addreass book.  I have selected sync with google in the Address Book preference's and no luck.  I have even tried creating an exchange account again no luck.  Unfortunately I can say the same is true for my iPhone also.  It all used to work under snow leopard.

    I'm having a similar issue.

Using Lion i go to my address book > preferences > accounts > Synchronize with Google

It asks for my credentials and "processes" it but nothing comes of it. the credential window disappears and the synch with google option that i just check marked is now unchecked. If i go through the process the same thing happens.

    I second this.

I enter my Google Apps credentials, it seems to be syncing, but the address book remains empty.

OK, sounds like same issue. Credentials are verified, checked Firewall making sure Address book is allowed to accept connections, reset all sync services holding and clicking on the Sync icon with Option key held down, reinstalled Lion. Hmmm....still not syncing....stumped.

OK...Now I found out what's the issue (but no solution).

If iCloud Syncing is active, contacts cannot be synced to Google. Try unchecking iCloud Contacts syncing in System Preferences. Google Sync should work again.
