Bluetooth MAP Profile support for BMW office

Will Apple look to support Bluetooth MAP profiles?

All new BMWs can be fitted with options to integrate the office functions of your phone into the iDrive system. Most RIM, (Blackberry), phones are supported and you can have your calendar appointments and emails read out to you.

However, none of these functions are supported by Apple phones. Apparently Apple needs to implement MAP profile support to enable the car access to this information.

I'm out of contract and looking forward to the new iPhone5. However, if there are no plans to support MAP, then I might look at the dreaded Blackberry.

Can anyone tell me why Apple don't support MAP profiles?

No one here can tell you why Apple does or doesn't do anything. This is a user to user forum. Anything anyone here could say would be pure speculation, which is prohibited by the TOS.

Yeah they said iOS6 would support it, but it isn't working on my 3gs with Ford Sync. Weird thing is that it was working on early betas of iOS6 and then functionality stopped with the 3rd beta.

I have the same problem I updated my 4S to IOS6 a few hours ago, also updated my BMW X5 (Dec 10 build)telephone software support to the latest version but no emails in messages.

If I use my wife's Blackberry it works OK.

Either I have done something wrong (please help if you know what) or MAP doesn't seem to be in IOS6

Delete the pairing from both the phone and the car, then re-boot both of them and re-pair.

My wife has my car, I'm waiting for her to return before I can test the new iOS 6 MAP support. Fingers crossed, and thanks for all the suggestions🙂

I've got a 2012 Mercedes. I tried all the steps above and it didn't work. I've got "show notifications" turned on in my bluetooth settings.

I wish apple would fully support things instead of just supporting the bluetooth stack partially.

Paired, unpaired deleted all other phones in Bluetooth list, reset iPhone but it just doesn't work. Is there any way to find out if apple included it

By some act of God, the text messaging started working last night!

This was after unpairing, deleting, rebooting, and repairing on Friday. Guess it just took a while for the phone and car to talk to each other.

I have also got text messages working after BMW Bluetooth patch applied and iOS 6 upgrade on phone. I can get emails for the duration of a pairing by allowing the phone to pair, then turning email banners off and then back on again, but once you switch off the engine emails revert to not working. Hopefully a fix will be forthcoming! No sign of appointments though.

The BMW upgrade can be downloaded through the BMW website with your VIN, but it wouldn't then load onto my car, so I had BMW load it when the car was in for service last week.
