iPhoto tells me I'm not connected to the internet

When I try to use places, iPhoto tells me I'm not connected to the internet. However, I certainly am connected to the internet, and everything else works fine. I'm using the latest version of iphoto (version 9.1.5)

There have been other threads with the same problem, but they are all archived now and as far as I can see, no solution has been provided for the problem.

thanks.

I'm not trying to do very much. I'm just starting to figure out how to use these features. Up to now I've been using iview.

All I do is click 'PLACES', and I get a big banner saying I'm not connected to the internet. I thought there might be some iphoto preference that I have to toggle, or something.

I'll take a look at that link you gave me and see if it throws any light on this mystery.

I appreciate your prompt replies, but I should say that I haven't actually figured out a use for Places yet, so it is not particularly urgent.
