Characters entered twice in form field in modal dialog under safari 5.1

Yes. I just rebooted Windows 7 and am having the same problem. Every character I type is being displayed twice.

The only workaround is to hit backspace after each keypress. Lovely.

Force quitting Safari and restarting it *does* seem to resolve the problem.

I am also running 5.1.

I have not used any previous versions, but this is happening for me on 5.1 too. I am using Windows 7.

Same here. This issue is preventing us from shipping a new version of our product with safari support. Got it on 5.1 and 5.1.1 on Windows 7.

Is this issue going to get addressed soon?

You have any updates on this.

To make the functionality work in safari we may have to change our implementation 😟.

So any updates available on this so we can hold it for some time.

Fixed by adding [return false] within document.onkeydown event.

That fix [return false] in document.onkeydown is not a fix as it means you cannot use the backspace or delete keys or any other special keys (home,end,insert etc).

You have to trap the event , decipher the keycode and then return false only on alpha/numeric keys.
