Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

I am unable to update to FCPX 10.0.1

Update is there and I just can't get it.

If I go to the Final cut page I get the message:


"Final Cut Pro 10.0 is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store.

Do you want to buy Final Cut Pro 10.0.1?"


What??? Of course I purchased and installed it from the Mac app store!!!


If I go to the "Purchased" page, instead of update I get an "Install" button. When I click it, this time I get:


"Final Cut is already installed on this computer. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates."


But I go to the software update from the apple menu and there is nothing there?


What's going on???

Final Cut Pro X, Mac OS X (10.7.1)

Interesting. Maybe the AppStore was overwhelmed, simply giving the wrong error message, and Apple decided to off-load some AppStore traffic to the OS Software Update servers.'


Or is this standard behavior for the AppStore? (The Software Update message)

Heh-heh, I'm sure, eventually. But the AppStore bugginess is definitely NOT reassuring.


I'm going to wait until I see 10.0.1 actually running before I empty my trash and delete 10.0. 🙂 Just knowing it's there and can be easily recovered makes it feel safer, what with no disks to reinstall from. Keeping it un-deleted in the trash means no chance that download/network/errors will leave me even temporarily FCP-less.

Same here.

Motion showed up as an update and downloaded without problems.

The FCP X update did not show up.

Thanks to this thread I was able to get it.

FCP X 10.0.1 was only downloadable after throwing the 10.0. FCP X app into the trash and emptying the trash. The new version is downloading as I type.


This was not the smooth App Store experience I'm expecting from Apple.

Messages like this app was not purchased in the App Store are frustrating at least. Where else could I have bought FCP X????
