No More Security Updates for PPC Macs? Really?

I noted that the recent Security Update released by Apple - 2011-005 - was only for Mac OS v10.6.8 and v10.7.1. My trusted old G5 iMac running Mac OS X v10.5.8 has had no security update since 14 April 2011. I didn't expect anymore software updates from Apple for legacy computers but even security updates are no longer being released?

Forum Users: anyone has suggestions on how to keep older Macs secure whilst still using them? Are there third party software security alternatives?

That particular update addresed a file structure not present in Leopard, only in Snow Leopard and Lion.

It also included the removal of the DigiNotar CA root certificate, what you need to do manually in Leopard (see this discussion: How to delete/remove DigiNotar in Mac OS X 10.5.8's Safari?

I also only could use Leopard on an old PowerBook G4, and I am therefore in a similar situation.

But as we are just using it for surfing the net with a generic account, security is not a real issue as I would just wipe and reinstall if necessary.
