Missing App Icon After Update - iPad

After updating the app OPlayer Lite, the app disappeared from my iPad.

I tried searching for the app using Spotlight on iPad and came up with no results.

I have tried to restart iPad with again no resolution.

I tried connecting to my Mac and iTunes. iTunes does not show the app installed on iPad, but does show the app in the File Transfer with all media still on iPad.

The App Store will not let me delete or reinstall the app and shows that it is still installed.

I am stumped on how to get this app back onto iPad without restoring all data.

Any thoughts or fixes would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried resetting your iPad?

Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

If the app shows up in the Apps list, did you select it to sync. I'm not sure what you mean about shows up in file transfer????

I tried resetting with no fix.

The app does NOT show up in the app list in iTunes, but does show up "installed" in the App Store.

When connected to iTunes and the App tab is selected, at the bottom it shows the OPlayer App listed for "file transfer" purposes. It even lets me transfer files (movies, etc) to and from the app, but the app or its contents are not found on iPad.

No clue about this one - is it possible for you to play a video that you put on the iPad with this app and if it plays maybe the icon will reappear? Can you maybe resume playing from the iPod app controls in the recents tray?

If you have NOT backed up since downloading the update you may be able to restore from a very recent backup and restore the app that way.

Nope. Even though all the apps content is still on iPad, I can't access it from anywhere. Do you know of an app like iFile, but for non-jailbroken iDevices? I could get to the content that way.

I don't have a backup since installing that app. It is a company owned iPad, so I don't want to mess with it to much and would like to avoid having to reset it.

Thanks for all your help.

I have seen this application before here on the site. One user recommended it to another user in order to extract the iPad passcode without having to restore their iPad and I passed it on to another user who was thrilled with it and had great success using it - iPhone Extractor - it works with all devices.

EDIT - sorry - I reread your post and you don't have a backup so this will not work.

How did you first download the app to your iPad? If it was directly on iPad, you might try connecting to your computer. Make sure you don't have automatically sync when connected to iTunes. Once iTunes recognizes your iPad, click on it from the left of the iTunes screen. That will open iPad in iTunes. Then right click the device and choose Transfer purchases. Then open the apps button and see if the app appears in your app list. If it does, check to see if there's a check in the box for syncing to your iPad. If no, check the box and it should show up on your device.

You really should be backing up your iPad on a regular basis.
