Mac sleep mode not working

Cyberer: Like the others who have posted in this thread, you've failed to say exactly what the problem is. Does your machine not sleep automatically after the preset interval of inactivity? Does it not sleep at all, even when you close the lid or choose Sleep from the Apple menu? Does it go to sleep but not stay asleep? Does it not wake up properly from sleep? Or is the problem something I haven't mentioned?

Have you restarted the MBP since the problem arose? Have you reset the System Management Controller?

Same here...computer goes to sleep automatically after a preset interval of inactivity?

This is teh same as i donwload a big file...after sudden time i get the login screen?

All network actifities are broken...so when i log in i can start again to download the file.

In my case: Mountain Lion installed since 3 months. Mac book pro late 2008.

For a month or so. When, going in the apple menu, I choose the sleep option. The computer try to go to sleep but doesn't. Normally it take about 30 sec. to go to sleep. You hear a kind of a lite clicking sound and then all sounds fall flat, it sleeps.

In my case, the computer does the process until we hear the lite kind of clicking sound but!! doesn't go to sleep after that as it normally did before. It is like if it would fall on some type of loop. After another 30 sec. you hear the clicking sound and yes again and again. So there is two last mode. On or Off (the screen saver work properly thought!)

Anyhow, I went to the link you've posted. (I had already try resseting the pram just in case, no result) so before I reset the System Managment controller, I wanted to keep a track of this tread by writing on it.

I'll get back soon to tell if it worked!

Reseting the System managment controller hasn't resolved the problem! Maybe I should get some Valiums!!

It is a odd process the one that reset the SMC, pressing the power button for 5 sec. whiile no sort of power getting in the computer... anyhow there is obviously a reason for doing it but...

...my computer is still not sleeping, even with the auto-sleep timer. Mmmm

I though of re-installing MLion. Good idea? Yes, no...

I did 2 things.

My MacbookPro go back to sleep again.

Don't know which of the two really helps.

First I had a little problem with my iphoto app. I suppose that it may be because I removed some background pictures that are on the system library. It is around that time that iphoto started to behave oddly, saying everytime I opened it that 3 pictures where missing.

So I tricked the system library by adding 3 of my own pictures but naming them the same name as the one I deleted...
It appeared to worked after I reinstalled iphoto.

Second, I re-installed MountainLion. I supposed that this is probably what fixed the «no» sleeping problem.

Since then my computer go back to sleep like before.
