Any tips? The key thing is not losing his current content! Most of his content has been downloaded with MY account to his ipod, but now hes wanting his own account, so essentially id prefer to just switch over.

Apps are tied to the acount that originally puchased them. He will have to sign into your account to update the apps purchased with your account. His computer will also have to be authoerized for your account. Ownership of apps can't be transferred to a different accunt.

Sure, you can mulitiple accounts on the iPod and on a computer. It will require that the login be changed on the computer and iPod to do various actions like updating apps. When apps from more than one account need to be update, you have to update them one at a time since you can only be signed inot one account at a time. Also see:
