Not Receiving Ichat messages

Hi,

Have you got iChat on your computer to allow Multiple Logins ?

It would also be useful to know what you have tried so far.

It is late where I am as I post this and further replies will be delayed by sleep and work.

Ok,

There are several possibles here.

First of all Log in here
Go to the Mobile option in the list (when the page gets back there)

Turn it off (So things are not going direct to the iTouch And if it is listed).

Now set iChat to NOT do Multiple Logins.

If you used the Settings here to Push IMs to your Mobile device (iTouch) then disable that as well.

Quit iChat and then restart it.

Do you now get messages ?

Are you getting the indicator that they are typing ?

Is the iTouch still getting the IMs ?

I am having somewhat of the same problem. I am not recieving messages from people on my work network via zimbra's jabber. But when I send them a message first, they can reply to me, no problem.

If I use Adium with the same settings (I'm pretty sure) I can recieve the message with no problem. I even get a notifcation that they are typing to me before they have even sent the first message. I thought it was just an "Empathy" to iChat thing, Empathy being on an Ubuntu build. But today I realized that my other coworker was having the same problem with pidgin on a Windows 7 machine.

Have you heard of this problem before? This also happens from Gmail account to Gmail account, but on the same network.

Okay I just looked at this post while I was browsing https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2228190?answerId=10601058022#10601058022

and I tried unchecking the "Reformat incoming messages" and now I'm back in business. Apparently iChat to iChat was working but anything else was not. And just on the initial contact when receiving. No problem now though, as it is fixed.

Thanks for letting us know.

As you siad initially that it worked after an ougoing IM, I would have considered the Mac Firewall first or possibly router settings.

Normally for an IM to show up you have to have the Font that it is sent in.

iChat will change anything it does not understand for you to see it as Helvtica (the Default Outgoing choice)

Setting the Reformat Incoming Override seems to be a step too far when it comes to this.
