I am considering buying a Sony HVR-HD1000E. Will i be able to import footage simply via the USB to FCP7 or will i have to use Firewire? If i have to use firewire is there anyway this can be added in to my '09 macbook unibody? Thanks

HDV tape based cameras must connect via a firewire cable to transfer video. USB connection is not possible for tape based video transfer.
If your computer only has USB, this is not the camera for you - OR you need to get a computer with firewire to ingest the footage from this camera.
