A1038 and macbok pro

I have a chance to pick up an old 20" A1038 LCD display. I wanted to know if my MacBook Pro would be able to power it, seeing how the monitor has the ADC connector. I believe I have the proper DVI adapter, but just want to make sure the lap top could power a large external monitor like that without an external power source.
