slow motion with canon 600d/rebel T3i

I want to buy a new DSLR with HD video capability and am considering a Canon 600D/Rebelt3i. I would like to be able to make some slow motion videos and I know that the Canon can shoot at 60fps in HD but I know nothing about what editing software I would need for this( or even how) Can I use FCPX to achieve this effect?

And if anyone could point me in the direction of any tutorials on this subject I would be very grateful.

Thanks

I have the T2i. The T3i is a great camera, but if you read the fine print, you only get 60P frame rates when you are shooting 1280x720. If you are going full HD at 1920x1080 you will be selecting 30P, 24P, etc as your highest frame rate. 1280x720 is still good, and as Andy said, can make a nice slo mo. Just wanted to fill in a little detail. Great camera. Where you will really enjoy it is the large sensor coupled with a large lense to get night shots with little or no noise. Enjoy.

I think this is the norm for most video cameras - certainly all the pro-sumer video cameras. I don't have experience of DSLR but I doubt there's one that will shoot true 1920x1080 at 60fps - I'd be in the queue for one if there was!

I also doubt you will tell the difference between 1920x1080 and 1280x720 for some time - and if you're burning to DVD, you probably never will.

On my current project everything is 1280x720 - that way, I can convert anything I want to stunning quality SloMo.

It's late here in the UK but if I get time tomorrow, I'll post more about SloMo from 60fps (here in the UK we use 50fps).

Great, thanks, this is all very helpful. I wasn't aware of the frame rate limit in full HD with this camera but I agree that at my level ( pro-sumer) I don't think it will be an issue. I have seen some excellent video's on vimeo and YouTube shot with both the 600d and 550d, I think it is fantastic that such technology is available at this price level.

I'm in the UK too so I guess that means 50fps for me also.
