iWeb 3.0.4- missing fonts –Arial MT and Arial BOLD

When using iWeb 3.0.4 I'll get the missing two fonts –Arial MT and Arial BOLD– error messages on every single page. This font is NOT in use and I don't have a working version as replacement on my font folder. I don't want to buy it to get rid of the problem. Anybody knows how can i get ride of those without using pacifist ? Thanks.

yup, thanks for suggestions. so let's see: I've deleted both the iWeb prefs and i Web cache files+ I've restarted computer for fresh start w holding the shift button down + I've downloaded Pacifist to look for the missing fonts on the MAc OSX Leopard and on iLife '11 installation disks + I've verified disk using disk utility as suggested under "Fix iWeb" on the URL link ( btw volume mac HD is ok)

now - after having performed all above actions- I am getting another set of strange error messages when opening iWeb:

The following errors occured while trying to open this document:

The font ArialMt was substituted for the missing font ArialMS.

The font Arial-BoldMt was subtituted for the missing font Arial-BoldMS.

guess what ? the "missing" typefaces have flipped !! while I dont have and/or use Arial MT or Arial-BoldMt !!

(My font book shows under Arial MT: Black. Extra Black and Extra Black Italic.)

I also dont have any of the missing Arial MS font.

this must be an iWeb software bug !!

I've designed two large sites with iWeb and Apple won't even support iWeb anymore !! Looking for solutions must have costs me 2 days of work 😟.

I'm looking now at Rapidweaver, Muse and Dreamweaver as replacement for iWeb. such SHAME !!

I believe those fonts are Microsoft fonts. Do you have MS Office or any other MS software installed?

Try the following:

  1. delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home(User uploaded file) /Library/Preferences folder. - you've already tried this.
  2. go to your Home(User uploaded file)/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.

3 - launch iWeb and try again.

If that doesn't help continue with:

  1. move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
  2. launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
  3. go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
  4. move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
  5. launch iWeb and try again.

It is now generally acknowledged that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.

However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:

Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:

◼ Password protection

◼ Blog and photo comments

◼ Blog search

◼ Hit counter

All of these issues can be solved with 3rd party options.

I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.

There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.

It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the boxed iLife 11 still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.

Personally, if I already didn't have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

Dear OT,

Thank you for your feedback. Since I've already tried step 1 by deleting both iWeb preferences and caches I was eager to try out your recommended second option:

  1. move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
  2. launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
  3. go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
  4. move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
  5. launch iWeb and try again.

Well I did all the 5 steps. I moved the original content in the iWeb folder "domain.sites2" onto desktop and created a new site which I saved. Only this newly created site never showed up in my iWeb folder !!

Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder

I then moved the old "domain.sites2" from the desk top back into the same still empty iWeb folder.

now by relaunching iWeb it goes to the new created dummy site !!

Here I am, currently left with nothing 😟 How do I go back to the original settings ?

Sep 25, 2011 9:32 PM in response to silka

okay. I found my way back AND of course to the original problem of missing fonts messages on my iWeb pages

- I had to go to new created/published iWeb folder on desktop to delete dummy file. it never registered inside the

Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder

as mentioned to expect ?!

seems like the only solution is to get these fonts I dont have or need.

thanks,

silka
