Apple TV 1 not showing TV show items

Apple TV 1 not showing TV show items on the main menu.

Movies & Music is working fine, as is YouTube, but nothing shows under "TV Shows" other than "my TV shows" no sign of top TV shows or search....

Anyone else experiencing this problem.

Apple TV, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

I have already tried restarting the unit by switching it off at the power plug for 1 minute, then restarting..... But no change. Wouldn't this be the same as removing all the plugs. Or is this an additional way of restarting the unit.

BTW... contacted Apple support regarding this, and all they said was a couple of people had mentioned similar issues, but no solution was available.

If anyone manages to resolve this issue, would apreciate you taking the time to share.

Cheers everyone.

No it's not quite the same, if the HDMI or a network connection is causing a problem, it's better to remove those connections when restarting.

However saying that, it seems others have tried and it hasn't worked so it's probably not relevant in this case but certainly worth remembering.

I'd been watching which locations were affected, but I notice albo1000 has posted from London, assuming that's London UK, things get stranger since I still have the menu items and can use them.

Same problem with apple tv 1st generation,tv menu only shows my tv shows tab, missing top, favorites, search, ect. I live in crestview Florida, i'm glad it's not just me with this problem, I almost went as far as buying another unit because I though my unit developed a glitch, I did everything others have tried ( restore, reset ), but same thing,I think apples trying to out phase the apple tv 1st generation to save money, I think apple is starting to become the bully in class, they are really losing site of why they exist, you can still buy shows on other devices and synch them to your unit. But it's extra steps-more time, apple should realize some people actually like having 160 g of memory on the apple tv, because you don't have to run your pc to view your content, like with the new apple tv, yes they are cheaper, but some of us actually have some money to spend, on complex usefull technology, i realilize most americans are completely braindead, but a few are'nt, I bought a Sony google tv yesterday, and we will see how that goes, the apple support staff needs their jobs so they always update and update, if it ain't broke, you don't need to reinvent the wheel over and over!!

So go ahead people leave me some irrelevant hate comments about my opinion, I look forward to ignoring them!!!

Well i am located in Melbourne, Australia. When i contacted Apple, they instructed me to keep an eye on these support forums for an answer.

The alternative was to sign some agreement with them, in order for them to excalate the problem/issue with an Apple technician. I was told this would cost approx $60 AUD. Hardly seems fair when its a worldwide issue on something they have clearly done themselves.

Oh Apple TV, how i miss you not working... Come on Apple, find a solution to this, and quick.
