Default Image Scan Area is a Small Part of the Page?

Why does image capture start a scan by defaulting to a tiny area,

seemingly some random object on the scanned page? How to I

get it to default to the entire page so I don't have to drag that

rectangle out each time I put a new document on the scanner?

I have a Brother MFC-9840 CDW.

Be sure you are using the expanded pane (Show Details). You have two choices. The first choice uses Use Custom Size. There is an associated option for Auto Selection. You should turn off Auto selectin and Image Capture should remember the last size used.

The second option would to uncheck the box Use Custom Size. After you do that, you can select the default size you want your scans to use such as US Letter or A4.

Hi Matt,

Mark's question at the beginning was "How do I get it to default to the entire page so I don't have to drag that rectangle out each time I put a new document on the scanner?" .....

This is driving me crazy too. I have an Epson V500 Photo). I've unchecked the Detect Separate Item option but it doesn't help. I don't see a Use Custom Size and here is no option for Auto Selection.

Any help much appreciated.
