how do i use an American Macbook pro in ireland?

Can i just get an adaptor or something to change the volts?

or just buy an irish magsafe power cord and will it work in the american laptop? or do the american one work on different volts to the europe laptops?

if so what watt magsafe power adaptor would i need for a 13 or 15 inch?

If you are going to buy a new one, buy the one with the higher wattage (85 Watt instead of just 60 Watt). It will not get as hot running your MacBook, and will last longer. Apple says using the one with the higher wattage has NO ADVERSE IMPACT on any part of your MacBook, and they tend to cost almost the same.

The difference between the US model and the Irish model will be the detachable plug and the detachable AC mains cord, which will use different plugs. In Ireland, that may mean "NO plug, do it yourself", i am not sure.

Remember that when you coil the DC part of the cord (to the computer) you should leave a little slack on the first winding so as not to pull the cord out from the electronics.

Thanks for the almost instant answers

so if i buy an irish magsafe power adaptor for an american macbook pro it will work fine?

does the sockets in american walls and irish walls in normal households not differ? say my irish socket could give too much power and fry it or will the magsafe handle this?

You do not need another Magsafe (unless you want a spare) the one you have will work, just get a plug adaptor so you may plug it into the wall, that's about $3.

Magsafes will accept 90v to 240v, Ireland is 220-240v
