Weird cuz Ive gotten conflicting information. Some people have told me what you said - dont leave it plugged in if youre working from home becuase it will harm your battery, and others have told me the exact opposite...leave it plugged in when you can cuz it will save the battery and make it last longer. Then I read the Apple batterycare that the other poster linked to and that kinda said a bit of both - it just said that you should let it run down once a month - and Ive definitely been letting it run down multiple times per week.
Im just so tired (as a new Mac user) of problem after problem after problem. Ive had such a bad Apple experience with the store techs and Applecare...Theyve always given me wrong information, ruined my computer, made me be in store 4x in the first 2 months for at least 5-8 hours EACH TIME for them to try to fix and redo things. I finally ended up meeting with the store senior manager for 2 hours to explain all the horrors Id been through and he of course apologized and couldnt believe what I had gone through and what his employees along with Apple phone support had said and done...Then he gave me a new laptop to start over and had an employee manually transfer every file so having problems now on the NEW laptop is making me even more frustrated. ( I know Apple just won best support again but Ive had the opposite experience...everything that could go wrong has...no one even believes my horror stories...I even had an employee email me profanities...just another day at the office I guess - sometimes you become too popular for your own good...plus theyve admitted the mac is getting short shrifted with all the ipad/iphone hysteria)...Well I digress.
I guess Ill call Applecare and then t heyll tell me to take it into the store and the whole horrific process will begin again. I did time it tonight and it was no where near 7 hours...It was close to 3 hours and all I had open was itunes and Safari...and Ive already dimmed the screen. So NOT GOOD for a new laptop.
I also read to click the battery icon and hit option - and it says my battery is 'normal' for whatever thats worth.
Someone told me if you use desktop wallpapers that may eat up battery. Someone sent me wallpapers and showed me how you can set system preferences to randomly rotate them and Im wondering if thats using up a lot of power. I wouldnt think it is but its the only thing I can think of. But tonight def. 3 hours.
UGH
I literally have had more problems with a Mac than with the 10 year old PC desktop it replaced..and that was nearly on its death door - and yet the mac has caused more problems than that did in ALL TEN YEARS
