From the Finder menu View>Show Sidebar.
From the Finder menu View>Show Sidebar.
Ok, my sidebar disappeared as well, but when I click on View>Show Sidebar, it is grayed out and is not an option. Any ideas? Now, when I connect an external drive, the sidebar is there, it is only on my internal hard drive. Thanks.
thats strange...

Once you open a folder or a drive icon on the desktop, the Show Sidebar item in the View menu should become active. It is not selectable unless there is an active window available.
You can achieve the same thing by clicking on the little lozenge-shaped button at the top right of any window.
Which may well be how you lost it in the first place!
Thanks, this helped. I guess my cursor was a little off and I clicked on that without knowing... Its all back to the way is should be now. 🙂
Trashing sidebar preferences didn't work. This is the solution! Open Terminal, add script, hit return.
rm -rf ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
killall Finder
Thanks so much!
Thank you very much!
