I can't change the call forwarding number.
I hv an iphone 3gs, I once forwarded calls to a number, and now I can't change that number. Every time I try to change it, when I go back to the call forwarding window it keeps the older number.

Yes it is on otherwise you can't even open the window in which you change the number. I have a cellular connection when I'm doing it, yes. It is really important for me to solve this problem as I am all the time on call for work I can't be unavailable. thank you for the help.
I can change mine, but it's slower than molasses. The old hour glass just seems to spin forever. I don't remember it like this in the past. I'm wondering if this problem is caused my massive server activity on the ATT site?
Actually it seems like everything on my IP4 has slowed to a crawl. Hope not as I would like to sell the beast and get ready for my 4 S.
Yestardy I try everything but which helpful that I reset setting and the number was gone by the way the apple support should give us a solution to remove that number I will not reset my ip4 every time I wanted to remove forwarding number

And what cell phone company are you using? I routinely forward my IP4 to another ATT flip phone. However, I don't know if I could forward to another carriers cell phone. That would probably involve "minutes and other charges".
i have an iphone 4S and have used the call forwarding function many times. i activated it a couple of weeks ago to my partners iphone 3 - in just the same way i have always done it - but now i cannot de-activate it. my carrier is China Unicom (i live in China), and this is not a carrier problem.
so now all my calls are still being diverted and i can do nothing about it. I have tried all the remedies mentioned here, but none work.
let me say this about my iphone - it's the worst phone i've ever had, and i've had many. i've had it for 18 months and have had nothing but trouble with it, starting about 3 months after I bought it.
the activate button at the bottom of the phone (the depressed circular button you use to wake the phone up when you want to use it) works intermittently - actually, it doesn't work more often than it does - and i have to turn the phone off and then on again to get it to work. I've had it fixed by an Apple repair shop three times, but it very quickly malfunctions again.
and now the problem is critical because the on/off button recently stopped working. so the only way to get the 'wake up' button to work is to shake the phone very vigorously. on several occasions apps that i've bought and installed from itunes have simply stopped working and the only way to get them working again is to reload them. i really hate being locked into itunes and this just makes it all the more detestable. and now this call forwarding function.
on three occasions i have taken my phone to an authorised dealer in Shanghai and even though i have receipts and the box with bar code that the phone came in, they refuse to honor the guarantee as i bought the phone in The Netherlands. So I've had to pay to have the bloody thing fixed. i phoned the so-called Apple World Care Center, in the Netherlands as it happens, and they confirmed that I have to take it back to the shop where i bought it! This is ludicrous and i wonder what Apple means when they talk about a worldwide guarantee.
it's a 3 hour trip for me to get to the apparently authorised Apple repair shop in Shanghai, and anyway, not worth the trip.
As i said, I've never had a worse mobile phone experience, and it cost a fortune to buy. I will be replacing it with a Galaxy very soon and I swear that I will never buy another Apple product, such is my level of disappointment.
in the meantime, please help me to fix this call forwarding problem. I repeat, it is not a carrier issue.
Hello,
I had the same issue with Airtel Carrier (India) , contacted the team and they said it possible to forward to only other airtel numbers . then i followed their suggestion by taking a new airtel number and tried to set that number for call forwarding but when i do that , i cannot recieve even any calls to the present number also and they get that the number doesnot exist/something.
i checked with carrier team and they everthing is fine with them , asked to check with apple device ...
when i set , i get the call forward symbol on the left corner of the phone , i tried reseting my phone but still facing this issue ......
it would be great help if someone can guide me ....
thanks
Call forwarding is a carrier feature, so contact your carrier & have them disable it, then re-enable it. That should fix things.
To change the forwarding number, tap the circle with the x in the phone number field to get rid of the old number, and then enter a new one.
I have done it but then I go back to te previous window and it keeps the older number that I have just erased and replaced with the new one.
Is Call Forwarding "ON" when you try & change the number? Do you have a cellular connection as well when doing so?
OK, turn call forwarding off, then reset your phone:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.
I have done as you suggested but it is still not working... getting desperate!
I will, thank you for the help.
its not help i do everything 😟
hellllllllllllp
You were right, I asked the cell company and they said they have blocked the call forwarding to mobiles...thats why it kept going back to the home number that was saved...
Thank you!
I can't change the call forwarding number.
