I used Blackberry headphones to listen to my iPod, now with someone calls, I can hear them but they can't hear me, vise versa. If I leave the headphones plugged in, they can hear me. I've restored and re-synced. Still won't work. What now?

when a headset is connected to the phone the mic and speaker in the phone are muted

this is how it was ment to work

if the headset don't have a mic or have a mic not compatible with iphone

(the standard for 3.5mm minijack connectors don't include mic at all so everybody handle it different and rarely compatible with each other)

so if people call pull out the headset and speak into the mic of the phone

or use an apple headset with a mic

I've tried to unplug while on the phone with someone, but the mic on my phone still won't work. I've tried voice memos to test the mic and it won't record either. The only way I can talk to someone on the phone and they can hear me is with the headphones. These headphones don't have a mic on them, yet my mic on my phone works when they are plugged in. Confused!!!
