Can't run inDesign off exernal Hard drive

I am having an issue running Adobe inDesign CS5.5 off an external 2 Tb hard drive. Photoshop will run from the external drive.

Both were installed together. I am in 64 bit mode.

I was able to run it before and changed the external drive to Lion. I have erased and reinstalled Snow Leopard on the external drive and it is still an issue. Not many of the apps I have will run in Lion.

Will CS 5.0 run from an external hard drive?

Carbon Copy Cloner 10.7 to a blank external HFS+ drive (another one)

Option boot from the Snow Leopard clone and Disk Utility Erase the ENTIRE internal drive, Carbon Copy Cloner Snow Leopard drive to the internal.

Boot into Snow Leopard and leave Lion on the external to toy with.

You can always hold Option key and clcik on Purchases to download the Lion installer again.

Make Lion boot DVD's Egg Freckles (google search)

Let me explain further. I am on a MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I am running the internal Hard Drive on 10.6.8 and I an able to access many programs off my 2TB Simpletech Duo Pro Drive formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) running 10.6.8.

My issue is, I used to be able to run all the Adobe Suite 5 applications. I installed Lion on the external drive and was unable to accesss inDesign or Illustrator, I erased the external and reinstalled Snow Leopard and now I can't access inDesign or Illustrator on the MacBook Pro.

When I was running Lion, I was not able to afford the cost of replacing many of my applications to run on Lion.

I updated Adobe CS to 5.5. Was that the change? Can I go back to CS 5?

Why can't I acess these programs on my MacBook Pro anymore.

I found that CD 5.5 will not open on an external hard drive so I went back to CD 5.0.
