New MacBook Air won't open Setup Assistant. Stuck on VoiceOver registration screen.

I just bought a new 13" MacBook Air from Best Buy. Got it home, followed directions for starting up. When I turn it on, instead of running Setup Assistant as the booklet describes, I am stuck on a registration screen that uses VoiceOver. The computer is stuck at this point. Any ideas of how to get out of the VoiceOver/registration & open up Setup Assistant? Many thanks.
