LCD? LED? I am confused!!

According to the Spec in the Apple Website, the new Macbook Air is with LED monitor.

However, I received my new MBA, and I found that in ABOUT THIS MAC, it shows that it's LCD.

What is the deal exactly??

Can anyone help me on this matter?

There is generally confusion related to these two terms. As Mario_MM pointed out, the LED is what provides the back lighting for your display. Older displays used to use fluorescent lighting... basically the same technology you see in overhead fluorescent lighting. Over time, fluorescent lighting loses brightness leading to a more dim display. LED backlighting tends to be much brighter and more energy efficient. LED backlighting will easily outlive the life of your computer. Nearly all modern notebook computers use LED backlighting.

Technically, there are LED displays (as opposed to backlighting) as well, but they're not generally used in consumer products.
