Help!! I dropped my iPad 2 on a bus and the glass under the screen broke...I've seen many other cases about apple offering free one time only replacement of the iPad 2 with a cracked screen with new iPads. Is that possible in singapore? What should I do?

Help guys! I cracked the glass under my pad 2 as it fell down when I was on a moving bus. I wonder if the apple stores in singapore will help to replace it as I got it for only about 2 to 3 weeks..which is still under the warranty. What should I do?

All we can recommend to you is to make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your Apple Store. When you go, be honest, nice and sincere and it's possible they'll help you out with a free replacement. But since we're all just users here, there's no way we can predict how they'll handle this in your country. One thing I can say that is universal is that your chances of having a positive experience are increased by being very very nice when you explain what happened.

Just because you've only had the iPad for two weeks has no bearing on what happended to your iPad. The warranty does not cover neglect, misuse or consumer negligence - which is what happened in your case. Nobody here would know what Apple might do for you.

Do you have insurance? Where did you buy the iPad? If you bought from Apple online - contact Apple. Google "Apple support in Singapore". You'll come up with something.

Short and sweet - Accidentally cracked the glass on my iPad 2. Made an appoinment at the Berkeley Apple Store. Explained what had happened, and was told they'd have to charge me $350 for ANY iPad repair.

Yes, I was nice to the Genius. Didn't put on an Academy Award performance with tears. I'd read the posts here about "free one time" replacments, but didn't whine about it.

In the end, it came down to him making the decision not to swap it out. He actually referred me to an iPhone/iPad accessories stand at the local mall for a screen protector.

If there is a free one time replacment then there should be a free one time replacement. It is at the whim of the "Genius" you get when you walk in the door. This seems quite unfair-but I guess that is life. The guy I spoke to in the store and the person on the phone both admitted that it is "case-by-case" and/or depends on the "Genius" they present the problem to. This makes me very irritated. Not being a jerk didn't make a difference- maybe if I would have had a lower cut shirt on? Maybe I will go every day until I get someone who is in a good mood.
