Pics/vids taken with iphone are imported as with any other digital camera.
Copying personal photos and videos from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer
Got a neat little app, PhotoSync, that i use to save photos, from the iphone to mac, to PC, to ipad. Gotta tell you, is really cool. No cables need it. Check it out.
Thank you. This was very helpful. I went to the scanner and scanner wizard (it wasn't automatic) and saved the pictures and vidoes to my computer. Now, I have to figure out how to put them in Itunes. I am sure it's just me, but Itunes is difficult for me to figure out regardless of whether i read the manual. Thank you!
Thanks! I will check it out.
Thank you. I am following the directions but still can't find my photos and videos from my phone on Itunes. When i select the photos tab, the only option is to synch pictures and videos from my computer to my phone. But, what i am looking for is for the videos and pictures from my phone to get into Itunes as a back up to my computer and phone.
The photos are not stored in iTunes, you just use it to sync them. You need to store them in another program or in a pictures folder.
OK, that explains it. What about the videos? I can't seem to find my videos.
Are they still on your phone? Connect it and import just like you would from any camera, see link above.
Download Cyberduck. Other FTP software will be similar.
Go into the wifi settings on your phone.
click on your network.
write down the IP address
Open Cyberduck
click on the open connection button
In the dropdown menu go to SFTP (SSH File transfer protocol)
In the server field enter your IP address
Port is 22
Username is "root"
there is no password
Once connected you'll see "Library" and "Media"
Above that you'll see /private/var/root
click that dropdown menu and navigate to the hard drive symbol that has "/" next to it.
You'll now see 18 folders.
Navigate to var/mobile/media/DCIM
Here are all your images and video
You can set a bookmark to this location so you're always just a click away.
There are really no good directions for this simple task. I go to Image Capture, and the mov and jpg files are not separate, and there is no way simply to drag the files off the iPhone.
Telling someone to do it as from any camera is no use, if there are no directions, or if one has no experience doing this with another camera. That is why with my fancy, pro-level camera, I find it best just to drag the photos and movies right off the card. It would be good to be able to do the same with the iPhone: just see the files, and darg them off onto the computer. Duh! Why can’t one do that?
Apple needs to get this straightened out. At least they need to provide directions for simple, obvious things.
The Sync function with iTunes also does not do the job — or if it does, I have not been able to figure it out. The user should not have to reinvent things, or spend an afternoon to find the answer. That is not the Apple way!!
As we speak, I am using Image Capture, and it takes f o r e v e r.
