Could you clarify your comments regarding the Japanese keyboard? Is it not producing what it says on the keys, or is it that you do not like what it says on the keys and want the layout to be different?

If you want to replace it with a normal US keyboard, you would have to go to an Apple store or a reseller and see what the possibilities and costs are.

To change the mapping, you can create a custom layout with

(Make sure you set the keyboard type to JIS).

A possible workaround would be to use system prefs/language & text/text/symbol and text substitution

As for you other questions, they are probably best asked in a different place, like

Apple does not use email for support, so you will just have to get used to that.

like the "you'll just have to get used to that" line 🙂

okay, thanks for your quick reply, and i do appreciate the help, my case is that i'm used to the default US layout, and i ordered the japanese thinking that "hiragana and katakana" would be shown and just that, didn't know about the lots of key changes, so yes, the keys are prouducing what it says on them, i wish if i can switch em back.

the reason is i can type without looking and keys like ( ' ) and (@) and _ and even ^ are important to my typing style

so is there a way to get them back to normal without changing the whole keyboard ,, like ' should be at the right lil pinky keystroke,

thanks ^^

You can't change your username in these forums — the forum software doesn't enable that. But you can create a new username (Apple ID) and use that one from now on. The old one will eventually sort of drop out of sight, though it will still exist and will turn up if someone searches for it.
