I've only got an iPad1, so I guess I don't get to have an ALT key .... it works fine in OS-X of course, although most people will think of that key as OPTION, not ALT.

If you've looked for it and can't find it, it may not be there. Many things aren't, actually.

My workaround is to copy and paste from another app which contains it. My most common one is Glyphboard, a free app (when I got it, at least) which does the trick. I just looked; it does have the copyright symbol.

Yes your correct OPTION, not ALT. I have a bluetooth attached keyboard with the OPTION key available. Sorry I forgot that little detail. 🙂.
