iphone won't restore error 23

My iphone 3g is refusing to restore, says hardware error. Is there any way I can get around this, or do I need to take it in for repair? Thanks

If still problem, this is often a fatal error. But some have fixed this Error 23 with Battery Replacement or Dock Connector Assembly replacement.
