Facebook and YouTube problems

If you are using Safari as opposed to one of the Facebook apps then you could try its Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)

If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.

A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I've just tried it on my iPad as somebody else has just posted the same issue, and I'm also getting switched into Safari (and an Isle of Skye timelapse video). At the moment I don't know why it's happening.

I looked at FB on a different device, and the videos are ones that 3 different friends have posted recently.

Yep, me too... Tried installing different backed up versions of the facebook-app, but apparently its not the apps fault...

I think our best bet is the new youtube (desktop) layout, so...

It appears to be picking up the most recent (?) youtube video link that has been posted by your friends - I assume that there is a bug on Facebook's server that is causing the problem.

I've had the same problem today 28.9.11. Every time I press the Facebook icon on my ipad2, it jumps YouTube, to a link someone has recently posted on Facebook. I've tried changing settings, switched my iPad on and off again but nothing seems to work. Can anyone tell me if this is an Apple problem or a Facebook problem and hownit can be fixed, thank you.

I think it's a Facebook problem, though I'm not 100% sure. As to how to fix it, that I don't know either. In the meantime you could access Facebook through a browser or try one of the other Facebook apps and see if they work.

I am finding the same issue in Australia on my iPad 1. Facebook app and friendly are both bumping me to YouTube.

I'm also having issues....I tried logging out of FB, I even totally deleted it on my iPad and re-installed it, but the problem is the same. I get a you tube video every time I try to get on FB. I'm in the middle of syncing it with my computer now, and if that doesn't work with the new updates, I'll try a reset. It doesn't do it on my iPhone

I phoned Apple technical support who were unaware of the problem. A very helpful person went through resetting my iPad then resyncing it to my pc. Unfortunately, after 2 hours of syncing, none of that worked. If it doesn't rectify itself very soon, it's a trip to the Apple store in Glasgow for me.

I'm guessing it is a Facebook issue. They may be ramping up for the release of the official Facebook for Ipad app that will be rolled out next week with iOS5. As many people are aware, the ipad app is "hidden" within the iphone app which is what we currently are using on the the ipad. I think maybe some testing went awry. It looks like the problems started today for most people. I'm sure we haven't heard the last of it.

Same problem using the Facebook iPhone app on my iPad2. Have done the iPad reset and deleted / reinstalled the app several times. Just keeps going to YouTube in Safari every time I try to launch
