How to trim a video with Quicktime X under Lion without new encoding

Hi,

under Snow Leopard I often use the "trim"-function of Quicktime X. It let me trim a video without to encode it. It's only use a short time.

Under Lion I miss the "save as" Option, and now Quicktime always want to encode the video. This takes a long time (1 hour).

My question:

How can I trim a video with Quicktime X under Lion without to encode the video. I want the Option of Snow Leopard back.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.1)

I have this same question. It was really useful before to just open file, make edits, and save without re-encoding. Fast and no loss in quality.

I second the motion. What a waste of processing power and energy to have to re-encode a clip that simply needed some trimming.

I really hope someone see this and re-implements the trim without re-encode feature into Quicktime. I make screen recordings for work all the time and not only does it take extra time to trim now, but often the file sizes balloon after re-encoding.

You could try using Quicktime 7. I use Quicktime 7 Pro but I feel sure QT7 (non-Pro) would do the same.

The trim function works again under Mountain Lion. I haven't checked to see if they fixed it under Lion in a subsequent update.
