How do I text speech in Final Cut Pro X with a text bar like you see on TV?

Question

How do I text speech in Final Cut Pro X with a text bar like you see on TV?

I need a gray translucent rectangle/bar around the text, but I simply cannot find such an option.

I used this all the time for texting speech in Pinnacle Studio, but I cannot find such an option in FCPX.

Can anyone help me?

There's probably nothing exactly like Pinnacle Studio but gradient edge or gradient center might do what you want. You could make your own with a generator background layer.

I am new to FCPX so I dont know how to use a generator, but I will investigate this - unless someone can give me a quick step-by-step list of how to do this....
