How I make tasks run on the task server rather than my local computer?

I'm using Mac OS 10.7.1, ARD 3.5.1, and have a 10.6.8 server that's also running ARD. I've made the connection from my copy of ARD to the task server. When I create a new task It doesn't seem to run in the task server field. The task will run but it runs under the active tasks section and not the Task Server section. The job will then report back with failure because all the clients are not on. I tried running simple tasks like a report or even "touch /test" with no indication they're running on the task server at all.

Half of my users are teachers in higher education and thus keep unusual hours. I'd love to be able to setup a task and have it run on my various client computers.

MacBookPro3,1, Mac OS X (10.7.1), ARD 3.5.1

Have you checked ARD on the computer you have configured to be the task server?

Thanks for replying Teen Titan,

I just double checked both my copy of ARD and the server. My ARD client is set to use the server and the server has the options set to use it's own task server and to allow remote connections to this server. I took a look in the logs that could give me a clue as to what might be going on and I noticed this.

That prompted me to have a look at the server's IPv6 address which, for what I can tell, is a bit odd. I'm going to check with my admins and see if they have any advice. I'll post back if I find anything but I'd also appreciate any advice that others can offer.

you could try turning off ipv6 if it's not used on your network; or at least local traffic only.

If you try starting the task on the task server it self dose it work?

if starting the task from the task server works, is the task server using a different SN key? (assuming your version of ard requires a SN)

also I've noticed that for my computer to use the task server I have to give it more then 6 computers for a task. Just and FYI kind of thing.

How I make tasks run on the task server rather than my local computer?
