Basically I want to bring in files that are XDCAM, and I want to spit out XDCAM files as a finished product. I don't need to export to XDCAM discs, but I need XDCAM QT files. So far I just get ProRes, which is a lovely codec, but won't work in the world I live in.
Do you have Compressor 4, the $50 Apple export module?
No I don't. By your answer I guess I need it to jump from ProRes back into XDCAM. I'll get that and try it. Seems kind of backaswards considering I shot in XDCAM and want to export in it. One of those things about FCPX I suppose.

Next trying to keep everything in an MXF wrapper as you could with FCP7/Sony Cinemon.
Did you "Download Additional Content" after installing FCP X - that's how you get support for XDCAM.
Final Cut Pro > Download Additional Content.

I have downloaded it and installed it, but for some reason the options out side of Pro Res do not appear. I'll search around to see if I have missed something.
I have the same situation ie no XDCAM export options. I also have checked for updates and it says none available. I also downloaded ProAppsCodecs 2.01 from the Apple Support site which it says includes the XDCAM codecs, but it will not install. The reason given is that I have a newer version of the files. Interesting Yes!
The saga continues. I checked in Quicktime 7 pro and I have all the flavors of XDCAM usable for a Quicktime export. I found a posting on the web that these codecs are a part of the AppleHDVCodec.component which I have in /library/quicktime folder. Quicktime 7 sees this component but for some reason FCPX does not.
Can FCPX export XDCAM files?
