My iPod doesn't recognise in iTunes and when it does it comes up with set up new ipod and restores it, but then it disappears its so annoying because i need to sync my ipod and it will not let me. its been like this since ive updated my itunes. what can i do!?

Did you try removing and reinstalling all the Apple sofware using these instructions:
I go into Services and Restart all 3 Apple has in there.
Also, repair reinstall instead, from Programs control panel.
Another thing to clean up are
AppData Roaming Apple Computer SyncServices
Top level C: ProgramData Apple there should be a folder "Lockdown" that can be trouble.
Synch just the minimum. If you have any Photo folders you may need to clean out "iPod Cache" folders as well.
